Autumn at the Lake

Red fall leaves near Lake Michigan.

The trees turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red
during the Autumn months at the Lake.

It’s beautiful but quiet near the lake during the fall and winter months.
By now all summer visitors have packed up and gone home to their jobs in
other parts of Michigan, Illinois and Ohio, leaving the local farmers
and countryside in peace.

Turkeys can always be found near the Lake in the fall.
These ones are preparing for Thanksgiving.

Four fish in total – not bad for a couple hours with expert fisherman Rick Slaughter.

A big catch for Byron’s first time fishing on Lake Michigan.

Cherry Point Farm and Market

Cherry Point Farm and Market is located in Oceana County in west Michigan, on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. The area is known as Little Point Sable and it is the place where sun, sand and water have come together to create a bountiful farming area as well as one of nature's greatest play grounds. Every year people come from all over the world to swim, sail, fish, hike, ride and walk the dunes...relax or play hard...and to visit Cherry Point.
Cherry Point Farm and Market is a well known landmark. For over fifty years, four generations of the Bull Family have welcomed visitors to the farm. From a modest card table along the roadside Cherry Point has grown to a destination for the whole family.

History of Little Sable Point Lighthouse

Located in Oceana County, the Little Sable Point Lighthouse was built in 1874 and once looked very similar to the Big Sable Point Lighthouse near Ludington. Both towers stood 107 feet tall, both were constructed of brick, and both had a third-order Fresnel lens (a lens named after its inventor which focuses the rays into a horizontal beam for much more efficiency than a reflector system). The Big Sable Point tower deteriorated and eventually was covered with steel plates, but the tower at Little Sable Point still looks much as it did 120 years ago.
